Damage protection

What the optional add-on is intended to do, what it does not do, and how a claim would work.

Not insurance, and not yet available

Damage protection is an optional add-on, not an insurance policy, and BikeBee is not an insurer. The scope below is what we intend it to do. Final terms and the underwriting arrangement are still being confirmed, and will be published here before it can be bought.

Damage protection — ฿1,000

Added at checkout, per booking, for damage during your booking window. It is separate from — and sits on top of — whatever insurance the shop carries by law, and whatever your own travel or medical policy covers.

Intended to cover

  • Accidental damage to the rented bike
  • Theft of the bike when it was locked and parked responsibly
  • Damage from a collision where you are at fault

Not covered

  • Riding without a licence valid for that class of bike, or without a required IDP
  • Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Deliberate damage, racing, or off-road use
  • Losses where the key was left with the bike
  • Personal injury and third-party liability — these need separate travel or medical insurance
  • Belongings carried on the bike

Deposits are not protection

The ฿100 you pay on BikeBee reserves the bike. It is not a security deposit and it is not cover. Shops may separately ask for their own security deposit at pickup — that arrangement is between you and the shop. We recommend a cash deposit or a document copy rather than handing over your passport.

Making a claim

  1. Make sure everyone is safe and get medical help if needed.
  2. Photograph the damage and the scene before anything is moved.
  3. File a damage report from your booking — photos attached to the booking are the evidence a claim rests on.
  4. Tell the shop through BikeBee chat.
  5. We review the report with the shop and come back to you.

Photographing the bike at pickup is the single most useful thing you can do. Without it, pre-existing damage is hard to distinguish from new damage.
