Terms of service
The agreement between you, BikeBee and the shops you rent from.
Draft — pending legal review
These terms are a plain-English description of how BikeBee intends to operate. They have not yet been reviewed by a qualified Thai lawyer and the operating entity is not yet registered. They are published for transparency and are not a final, binding agreement. Final terms will replace this page before BikeBee accepts live bookings.
1. Who we are
BikeBee operates an online marketplace that connects riders with independent motorbike and scooter rental shops ("hosts") across Thailand. These Terms govern your use of the BikeBee website and mobile applications (the "Service").
We are a booking platform, not a rental company. The rental contract for any vehicle is between you and the host. BikeBee is not the owner, operator, or insurer of any vehicle listed on the Service.
Operating entity: to be confirmed
Registered office address: to be confirmed on incorporation.
Email: admin@bikebee.com
2. Eligibility
To book through the Service you must:
- Be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract;
- Hold a valid driving licence covering the class of vehicle you book. In Thailand this generally means a Thai motorcycle licence, or your home licence together with a valid International Driving Permit endorsed for motorcycles;
- Provide accurate registration details and keep your account secure.
Hosts may refuse a booking at pickup if you cannot produce a valid licence. Riding without the correct licence may invalidate your own insurance, and any protection bought through BikeBee, including the optional cover offered through the Service.
3. Bookings, deposits, and payment
BikeBee uses a reserve-then-pay model:
- You reserve a vehicle by paying a ฿100 deposit through the Service.
- The remaining balance is paid directly to the host when you collect the vehicle.
- Optional damage protection is available at ฿1,000 and must be selected at the time of booking.
- Hosts may separately require their own security deposit or identity document at pickup. That arrangement is between you and the host; BikeBee does not hold or control it.
A booking is only confirmed once the host accepts it. Until then your reservation is pending and the deposit is refundable in full.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations are governed by the cancellation policy shown on each listing before you book. Where a listing does not state otherwise, our standard policy applies: cancel more than 24 hours before your booking starts for a full refund of the deposit; cancellations inside 24 hours are not refunded.
If a host cancels a confirmed booking, or the vehicle is not available at pickup as described, your deposit is refunded in full.
5. Your responsibilities as a rider
- Wear a helmet. Helmet use is required by law in Thailand for riders and passengers.
- Do not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Inspect the vehicle at pickup and record any existing damage through the Service before you ride away.
- Return the vehicle at the agreed time, in the condition you received it, with the agreed fuel level.
- Report accidents, theft, or damage to the host and to us as soon as reasonably possible.
You are responsible for traffic fines, penalties, and damage incurred during your booking, less anything met by damage protection you added at checkout or by your own insurance.
6. Host obligations
Hosts listing vehicles on the Service agree to describe them accurately, keep them roadworthy and legally registered, maintain any insurance required by law, provide a helmet on request, and honour confirmed bookings. Hosts are responsible for their own compliance with Thailand rental, tax, and licensing requirements.
7. Reviews and content
Riders and hosts may review each other after a completed booking. Reviews must be honest and based on a real booking. We may remove content that is unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or off-topic. You keep ownership of content you post and grant us a licence to display it on the Service.
8. Our role and limits of liability
We provide the platform, take payment of the reservation deposit, and offer support. We do not inspect vehicles and we do not control host conduct. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BikeBee is not liable for the acts or omissions of hosts or riders, for the condition of any vehicle, or for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Thailand law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, or where required by law. You may close your account at any time from your account settings; closing an account does not cancel bookings already confirmed.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give notice through the Service or by email before it takes effect. The version in force when you book applies to that booking.
11. Governing law
These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of Thailand. The governing-law and dispute-resolution clauses are among the provisions still subject to legal review.
